Saturn hacker Hitomi2500 today posted an in-progress fan translation for the Japanese-only Saturn RPG Airs Adventure that he is working on along with SnowyAria, who is handling the translation work.

For those of you who are not familiar with Airs Adventure, it is a turn-based RPG developed and published by GAME STUDIO Inc. and released in December 1996. The story involves a knight who is about to be executed but is stopped at the last moment by a princess, and his new mission is to find out the truth about why he was set to be executed.

Airs Adventure is labeled as a kusoge game, the Japanese term for a “crappy game.” Although it has that label, and probably has not aged well, there seems to be a cult following behind it, or at least one big enough to warrant a fan translation for it, if translator SnowyAria’s comments on BlueSky are anything to go by.
“Sometimes you bug friends for years to help you hack a dream game, but then as a twist hitomi2500 comes from another project and drops the whole script in my lap!” SnowyAria said. “We’re finally translating Airs Adventure!! This game is such a beautiful adventure full of nonsense, I’m excited.”

If you’d like to see what the game is about or just check out the current work that has been done, you can download it on the SegaXtreme Discord yourself and give it a try.
