Burning Rangers Soundtrack Set for Saturn’s 30th Anniversary in Japan

Sega continues to celebrate the Saturn’s 30th anniversary in Japan with a set of music CDs featuring Burning Rangers’ original soundtrack as well as new remasters and karaoke versions.

The company’s music label, Wave Master, announced the album Sunday in Japanese. Set for a Nov. 22 release — the anniversary of the Saturn’s release in Japan — it can be preordered at four Japanese retailers: Amazon Japan, Beep Shop, Disk Union and Ebten.

There’s no word on whether it will be sold at Western stores, but the previous album to mark the Saturn’s 30th anniversary, Sega Rally Championship, has not shown up outside Japan since its release Oct. 17.

The official website says in Japanese that the album will be supervised by Burning Rangers’ original sound director, Naofumi Hataya, who still works for Sega to this day.

The tracklist shows that the first CD will start off with the Saturn startup sound and the Sonic Team logo sound followed by Burning Rangers’ original soundtrack. The final three tracks on the CD will be English versions of “Angels With Burning Hearts,” “We Are Burning Rangers” and “I Just Smile.”

The second CD features the Japanese versions of the game’s three vocal tracks as well as karaoke versions, some newly created remixes and the rare demo version of Angels With Burning Hearts. Some of the arrangements are from in-house Sega composers like Hataya and Kenji Mizuno, while others are done by guest composers Shingo Saito and Kiminori Atsuta.

Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, who sung the Japanese version of Burning Rangers’ opening track, posted in English about the album on X, formerly Twitter, after it was announced.

“Well, I’m busy sharing stuff a lot this month! (I’m so glad to be screaming, though!)” Mitsuyoshi said. “Following the Sega Rally, Burning Rangers’ 30th Anniversary CD will be released on December 22nd! Don’t miss it, and just do it!”

He likely made a typo by saying Dec. 22 rather than Nov. 22.

  1. I like the music in Burning rangers but I think that Sega should make something more ambitious for the 30th anniversary of the Saturn 😒
