Malenko Releases First Look at Logic Puzzle Rainbow Town Fan Translation

Right before Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2024, Malenko — who has worked on several fan translations in the past, such as Tokyo Highway Battle ’97 and Saturn Bomberman Fight!! — released a fan translation beta of Logic Puzzle Rainbow Town on the SHIRO! Patreon.

For those of you unaware, Logic Puzzle Rainbow Town is a Picross-style puzzle game, released by Human for the Saturn in Japan in 1996. This game contains more than 700 puzzles and, according to Malenko, gets incredibly difficult as you venture further in the game:

The translation work in the game is mostly puzzle descriptions and names. While the game is fully playable without the need to understand Japanese, these changes give it a great quality-of-life boost for fans in the West who’ve never played this type of game before.

If you’d like to try the game out, you can download the beta patch alongside the patching program on our Patreon if you are a backer at the Official Patron or above tier. Otherwise, the fan translation will be released to the public for free once it’s finished.

Thanks again to Malenko for this cool fan translation project, and especially for allowing SHIRO! Patreon backers to try this out early!
