A Christmas 1997 release in Japan, Texthoth Ludo ~Arcana Senki~ from Pai and Falcon is a 1- to 4-player board game fusing the classic Ludo game with Tarot cards. There are more than 20 boards to play and a single player story mode as well.
Create a character and use tarot cards to move around the board, as these will act in lieu of a die. Along the lines of classic Ludo, take actions, including summoning monsters and engaging in combat with opponents when you land on the same square. Your ultimate goal is to be first to the board’s central square.
The game uses memory save and provides a password that allows you to take your character and deck over to play with a friend on their console — including the later PlayStation version, for cross-platform play! Wow. Now, about that language barrier…
