For such a huge franchise, it’s surprising that Mega Man X3 only saw Saturn release in Japan and in Europe. Perhaps it being a straightforward, visually bordered port of the SNES original, coupled with being a 2D game, kept it off North American retail shelves.

Nevertheless, the game is vintage Mega Man and well worth a play for fans of the series. The Saturn port features a new, arranged soundtrack as well as FMV cutscenes, but also introduces load times not present in the original.

Of all Saturn Mega Man games, this is the only one “ported up” from a previous console generation.
