Based on a very long-running Japanese period drama, Hissatsu! is a side-scrolling action game very much in the vein of the Shinobi series. You and your associates travel from town to town, investigating evil-doers and dispensing justice.
Select two out of four characters — one remains under player control and one in reserve — and switch between them at will. Each has an unlimited regular and a metered strong attack; each character specializes in a different weapon. Katanas, whips, and knives are all on offer.
Relatively frills-free, this game looks very 16-bit, but don’t let that put you off from this solid title.
