Released exclusively in Europe in 1997 as a port of the PC original, Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster is a point-and-click adventure. You take on the role of freshly reanimated Phillip Werren, recently executed for murdering his daughter… but as you explore Frankenstein’s castle, all is not as it seems.
FMV actors are superimposed over computer-graphics backgrounds for that extra ‘90s feeling, though the visuals are crisp and the colors are quite nice. The Saturn mouse was never released in Europe, and this game does not support it.
Not an especially well-selling Saturn title, but part of a small group of PAL-exclusive point-and-click releases. Great this time of year.
I am a big fan of this game. Even though it doesn’t support the Saturn mouse, the “turn left and right” commands are mapped to the Saturn’s L and R button’s respectively, and as such, deliver an intimate feel for a PC port. Versus say, Jewels of the Oracle, which is a bare bones PC port without any care to the Saturn.
Nice write up as always Peter! 😀
This was one of my favorite games on the Macintosh as a kid growing up in the US. Shame that it never got a console port here. I would have snatched that up in a heartbeat! Now if only someone were to make a hack of this game using the Saturn mouse.
You forgot the two most important words possible in this write up… “Tim” and “Curry”
