Dating back to 1978 (!), Space Invaders is a simple game of timing as you try to shoot down a horde of invading aliens that are descending ever closer. The Saturn disc is a compilation of four variants of the game, but essentially, it’s the same game with slightly different backgrounds each time.

The game comes over relatively no-frills, but its addictive nature proves that even though a game looks like it belongs in the 1970s, gameplay is king. There is also a two-player battle mode.

Released in Japan only in December 1996, it was also repackaged into a double-pack, along with Puzzle Bobble 2X, a few short months later. #BestOf1970s
