2D one-on-one fighting games exploded in popularity in the mid-90s, thanks to the immense success of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Keen to grab a slice of gamers’ dollars, Atari’s Primal Rage hit arcades in 1994 and came home to the Saturn in ’95. Featuring seven dinosaurs, the player fights in a ruined, post-apocalyptic Earth (Urth) with little cavemen humans running around cheering on their chosen dino-god. Regarded at the time as the best home conversion of the arcade game, this title is an interesting entry into the 2D fighter genre.
