A STELLAR Localization Team…

As many in the Saturn community are likely aware by now, the folks responsible for last year’s Bulk Slash localization have been at work on a new Saturn localization project, Stellar Assault SS. Their first project, having been a learning experience, helped them develop a workflow and pipeline that has resulted in furious progress on this sophomore effort.

Holding voice auditions back in August, they had made their final casting of voice talent by October, and by mid-December they had sent SHIRO! a demo of the introduction plus the first five levels fully playable in English… That’s less than 5 months, and what they’ve submitted has met or even exceeded the already high expectations we had for them. This team has proven to be an incredibly well oiled machine, working together to produce amazing results in a short period of time!

Casting for the game, in our opinion, has been spot on, and every one of the voice actors chosen has shown incredible talent and has done a great job capturing the essence of the original Japanese performances.

Edgar & Maria, the game’s A.I. characters are voiced by Dan Bosley and CrouchingMouse (who also voiced Kina in the Bulk Slash localization).

The game’s seasoned squadron commanders Jake, Alan & Brad are voiced by Ramir-Pascal von Bannisseht, Mike Dent and Rocco DeFeo.

Brenda, one of the player’s wingmates who keeps an eye out for the squadron is voiced by Diana Allocco (who also who voiced Rupia for the Bulk Slash project), and Aya, the commander who delivers mission briefings and the excellent introduction sequence, is voiced by Renee Martin.

Finally, the Umbrella pilot is voiced by Rowin Dincht, and the role of an unnamed pilot is voiced by Galaga.

Another very impressive aspect of this project is the game’s sound and music, much of which has been tweaked and even redone by Shadowmask. Just listen to this…

Lacquerware, Danthrax, Shadowmask, Mampfus and Cargodin have all done an outstanding job so far, and SHIRO! is honored to have had the privilege of demoing their work early for everyone to see! We look forward to the finished project with much anticipation!
