Fenrir creator Ced2911 released a new firmware update for the optical drive emulator on Wednesday.
Version 1.5.5 improves the speed of loading games, introduces minor fixes and adds support for the next hardware revision.
It also adds support for Brazilian TecToy-manufactured Saturns to the 21-pin Fenrir models as well as improved 21-pin detection.
You can download version 1.5.5 from the Fenrir website.
This is the first Fenrir update in more than five weeks since mid-April when version 1.5.4 made minor fixes and debuted a new loading screen.
The Fenrir is a no-solder optical drive emulator that replaces a Saturn’s CD-ROM drive and runs games off of a micro SD card. It supports games in CCD/IMG, CUE/ISO (for single files) and CUE/BIN (for multiple files) formats. It first went on sale in spring 2020 and can be bought for about US$140 or €100 from a variety of online shops.
