Soul Hackers 2 – The Long Awaited Sequel – Coming in 2022!

Earlier this week, many Atlus fans eagerly awaited what they thought was a Persona 6 announcement, but were flipped on their head when it was revealed a successor to the first Soul Hackers game (Originally released in 1997 on the Saturn), would be released in August of this year!

For those of you unaware of the series, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers was originally released on November 13, 1997 in Japan for the Saturn (Later ported to the PS1 in 1999, and the Nintendo 3DS in 2012). The game, like many others on the Saturn, was exclusive to Japan. It did however get a Western release on the 3DS in 2013, so while the original wasn’t playable to western gamers, at least they could experience it in some form on the 3DS.

The original artstyle, which seems like a cool mixture of the SMT and Cyberpunk styles.

The sequel seems to try and capture the aesthetic of the original, but seems more Persona-like feeling than it does Cyberpunk, maybe even capturing influence from newer Cyberpunk inspired games, such as Cyberpunk 2077. While the aesthetic isn’t the same as the previous game, it definitely isn’t a sight for sore eyes… Looking very vibrant, yet gritty.

The latest game’s artstyle, which seems to be more in the style of Persona mixed with recent Cyberpunk game entries.

This will also be the first Shin Megami game in years to also be releasing on the Xbox family of systems, with this game releasing on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Making the Nintendo Switch the only system the game won’t be releasing on.

There’s even a really cool Collector’s Edition releasing, which comes with this awesome Jack Frost styled figure based off the main character, Ringo (No, no the Beatle). No pre-orders have been listed yet, so you might still be in luck if you want it!

You can’t NOT love this figure!

We’ll be interested in checking the game out once it drops later this year, on August 26, 2022!
