SHIRO! Podcast Retrospective: S1: Episode 2 – “Neo Geo on SEGA Saturn”

SHIRO! SHOW Recap

For our next week’s retrospective, we’d like to focus our attention on the second episode in season 1: “Neo Geo on SEGA Saturn”.

Fun fact: This was the first episode we used our official cast name, SEGA Saturn, SHIRO! Referencing it as the SEGA Saturn, SHIRO! Podcast.

Patrick: “When we first started the cast, I was going into my final semester of college at the time, and was incredibly busy. Focusing on passing all my final classes, and leading 5 other people in a Capstone project required to graduate. Dave was really cool helping us out at the time, setting up our Podcast distribution, Facebook page, Twitter, and YouTube. It was a crazy time, as we were making our focus spreading SHIRO! Throughout the world, haha.

The podcast on Neo Geo was an idea I had when I was first getting into MVS stuff. I watched Sega Lord X’s video on Neo Geo, who at the time (And to an extent still is) a massive influence on us as a group, and as a cast. I was fully into the SNK army, and wanted to spread the love of Neo Geo on the Saturn, which is where I first got into the expensive console who could.”

More fun tidbits:

  • We bring up Cho Aniki, which will be referenced in countless podcasts, especially on our cast about Horizontal Shmups
  • Brought up Game Paradise, which has not been discussed in depth in the podcast or video format. Really hoping to change that soon!
  • Lots of Discord beeps and boops popped up on this cast, which (For the most part), goes away later on in the casts,.
  • D-VHS was brought up, which is one of the first HD formats released in the United States. More info on that format curtesy of Techmoan on YouTube.
  • Game Paradise’s AMV was digitized and released as part of Limited Run Game’s limited edition bundle.
