Pseudo Saturn Kai development and beta testing have announced the release of their latest firmware. Development of this latest release has focused on Fenrir ODE, especially, in adding a full-featured Save Data Manager utility for it.
So, it’s now possible to export saves to Fenrir’ SD card : utility built-in Fenrir firmware supports that for Saturn internal backup memory, and Pseudo Saturn Kai extends that to all known devices such as backup memory cartridge or floppy disk. Additionally, it supports (with some limitations) the selection and export of saves stored into third-party cartridges such as Action Replay or Memory Cart Plus.

(While it shows an error, that’s normal because Fenrir write access is not completely emulated. It works better on real hardware)

Exporting saves to SD card is nothing without the ability to import them. So of course it’s also possible to read and copy save data to any kind of backup memory device. And as Save Data Manager was developed with emphasis put on being user-friendly, it’s possible to browse within the full dump file of Saturn internal backup memory or backup memory cartridge and select the save(s) to copy.

(No error this time, because Fenrir read access is properly emulated !)

Don’t own a Fenrir ODE ? Don’t worry, you weren’t forgotten because this release features an utility to ease the share of save data files between Saturn users! Concept of this utility is to pack save data files into Save Data Manager application so that import operation simply requires to copy on media for ODE, or burn on a CD-R if ODE is not available. Thanks to this, a simple Pseudo Saturn cartridge is the minimum requirement to import save data downloaded here and there from internet!

TL/DR : what Pseudo Saturn Kai brings to my Fenrir ?
Until now Pseudo Saturn Kai made possible to …
– Select disc image from an alternate menu
– Play games with cheat codes, from built-in list, or manually entered

And now it is possible to …
– Export save data from a wide variety of backup memory devices
– Import them back via an user-friendly Saturn application

Moreover, all these features don’t require anything more than Fenrir to be used : Pseudo Saturn cartridge is not mandatory ! And, installation on Fenrir is straightforward : just copy an .ISO file on SD card root folder and voila.

Pseudo Saturn Kai and Save Data Manager were developed with the goal of improving gaming experience on Saturn : stuck on a difficult level ? Use cheat codes ! Want to share ghost data of your favorite racing game with a friend ? Use Save Data Export and Import ! We (the Pseudo Saturn Kai development and beta testing team) sincerely hope Pseudo Saturn Kai will make you enjoying playing as we struggled in developing and testing it.

The next step is support for the Satiator!
